2025 Libra New Moon
Listen to Astrologer Kathy Biehl discuss the 2025 Libra New Moon Astrology Forecast.
Winds of change have been blowing through Libra territory since August. With this month’s 2025 Libra New Moon in the sign, they coalesce into something(s) with power to stay and grow.
Whereas the Aries Full Moon ignited the self-determining, self-sufficient, and self-actualizing end of the relationship spectrum, the 2025 Libra New Moon puts the focus on how we are going to get along with each other and more. It’s launching a new phase in not just relationships, but also agreements, social justice, and the arts.
The sign’s ruler, Venus, is, ironically, all on her lonesome. She’s making no aspects but still resonating with the massive updating for the future she underwent recently, in an air grand trine with change agents Uranus and Pluto, grounded in Neptune in Aries and the higher creativity and innate connection to spirit it embodies.
She’s the fourth body to make that link, after Mars in August, Mercury, and the Sun in September. The winds whipped up action and motivation, unleashed startling information and unavoidable plot twists, then shook our values and social dealings. All the fallout, all the epiphanies, and all the updates from those contacts are now affecting and informing the intentions, seeds, and next phases of the 2025 Libra New Moon.
Much as Libra values the packaging – harmonious colors and sounds, artfully chosen words – these New Moon nuggets are not exquisite works of art to be admired from afar. Nor are they as intrinsically intellectual and theoretical as is Libra’s wont. They are, instead, uncharacteristically emotional – birthed with or from wellsprings of feelings, propelled by nurturing, caring, and protectiveness for home and loved ones – not to mention supersized, larger than life, and generally over the top, courtesy of a square to Jupiter in Cancer.
In that sign, he’s anything but logical in his own right. In this moon’s line-up, he’s not only going sky high but plumbing the deepest depths as well. Rationality – and Jupiter’s usual bent for optimism — are giving way to deeper, fiercer undercurrents.
Powering Jupiter’s square to the Moon is the direct current he’s receiving from Mercury and Mars in Scorpio. The cosmic messenger and god of war are tightly conjunct, traveling through dark and murky waters with fearlessness, focus, and perceptiveness on the order of telepathy. The planetary pair is churning and investigating all manner of information, motivations, and situations that have been in hiding – secrets, psychological terrors, and other unpleasantries.
For some people, this combo is stirring paranoia and suspicions. For others, it is delivering the wherewithal to get to the bottom of things and, just as importantly, trust your findings. For all of us, the Mercury/Mars combo reminds us unapologetically that life is not all lace hearts and bouquets, and nudges darker considerations into the mix.
We may have to adjust our expectations of authority. Or act responsibly toward others, or toward humanity as a whole. Tweaks are coming from the Moon’s inconjunct to Saturn in Pisces, which is itself stabilizing – and possibly constraining– that boundless Jupiter in Cancer.
What to do with this line-up: Formulate your vision for relationships and social contracts in this ever-changing world. Given your experience of the past two months, what do you want in and from relationships, from this point on? How can you connect more emotionally and deeply? How can you make them more honest and meaningful?
These questions are useful prompts for coming up with New Moon goals, intentions, or wishes. You may find that you’re creating a paradox: you want both less and more — fewer and fewer connections, but a lot more from the ones you do want.
If you don’t get around to making your goals, intentions, or wishes for a few days, you may notice that they’re affected a bit by a shift in the atmosphere – neither bad nor good, simply a shift.
Neptune moves from Aries to Pisces on the 22nd, the day after the 2025 Libra New Moon. His move unhooks us from the awareness of self that served as the grounding cord for all the air grand trines and returns us to heightened awareness of interconnectedness. This may provide more reminders of what we now want in our relationships.
