Could you shre something of what that looks like. I understand some of that since my own path, herein called my “modus operandi”, is quite a bit different than the standard “Reading ORIENTED” astrology.
Hi Robert,
I use astrology to make predictions. When I delineate a natal chart my goal is not describing the personality of an individual, but the actual opportunities and challenges she may encounter in various fields of existence. I am interested in telling a Consultant what may happen to her, not in describing her character traits.
To me a natal chart does describe a person – her temperament and character traits. That person, however is not the one and only centre of the universe, but someone who lives in society and therefore does interact with others. Information about what may happen in those interactions – on the job, with friends, children, partners, enemies etc. – to me is as important as information about temperament, if not more important. Because in life there are challenges and incidents (but also opportunities) that do not necessarily depend on individual will.
In making predictions I start with primary directions and profections, and only then I look at solar returns, lunar returns and finally transits, rather than focus on transits and solar returns only. Transits are important, but they are not the first or the only predictive technique I choose. I also use time-lord techniques, mostly zodiacal releasing from Fortune and/or Spirit. When I was younger I studied and tried “aimed solar returns” – this is quite famous in the Italian astrological community even though astrological magic it is not really new. The idea is to pass your birthday at a location where the strongest and most positive planets in the chart will be placed in the best houses. This should influence outcomes in ways favorable to the native, with immediate and visible effects. I no longer use this technique because I believe the potential the planets express at birth cannot be changed by travelling on the day of one’s birthday. Individual awareness, common sense and behaviour modification can be much more effective.
I use Ptolemaic aspects only. To me a quincunx or a semi-sextile mean that the planets are not seeing each other therefore their energies don’t interact. I use traditional and extra-saturnial planets, Hellenistic lots and fixed stars, but not Sabyan symbols, asteroids and hypothetical planets. I don’t attribute essential dignities and debilities to Uranus, Neptune and Pluto though because I think our knowledge of these planets and their effects is still very young if compared to the knowledge accumulated by astrologers of past ages. I can calculate and draw charts manually, but now I use astrological software. I stay away from AI. The other day I asked an AI to draw my birthchart and it got most planetary positions wrong.
I do natal, mundane, horary and electional astrology but not medical astrology. I have no knowledge of Jyotish or other Eastern systems of astrology.
