WEEK 40 RUNS FROM WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 1, TO TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7.
NOTE 1: After a 10-week cycle in which all the week numbers began with 3, and which focused on the constructive and destructive powers of COMMUNICATION, and the dynamics of FRIENDS and ENEMIES, we now move into a 10-week cycle in which all the Calendar Weeks begin with 4.
WEEK 40 brings a burst of straightforward, practical energy into our lives, but until we better understand its rhythm, 4 can be a rough ride, full of limitations, barriers, and delays. But it also produces prolonged bouts of logical thinking, and a level of determination that can lead to a major BREAKTHROUGH.
4 represents HARD WORK, possibly in situations we thought were beneath us, or beyond our capacity to handle. 4 is the number of consistent EFFORT and PERSISTENCE, and of knowing the difference between stubbornness and noble purpose.
To be noble means to have integrity and strength of character – to do what is right for the sake of doing what is right. And yet, the word “nobility” is set aside to describe aristocracy and the so-called “ruling class”. 4 shows us the deadly outcome of the ‘class system’, sexism, supremacy, racial and religious hatred, all manner of biases, apartheid, and fascism. Without BALANCE and FAIRNESS, we cannot survive.
The class system is based on feelings of superiority and inferiority, and being more deserving or less deserving. These misplaced feelings contribute heavily to the IMBALANCE that threatens to tear the world apart.
BALANCE requires a realistic PERSPECTIVE. We have to learn to look at history through the lens of human experience, and not just the politicians, monarchs, aristocrats, generals, billionaires, colonists, and devilry disguised as diplomacy.
As James Baldwin put it:
“History is not a procession of illustrious people. It’s about what happens to a people. Millions of anonymous people, is what history is about.”
4 activates our sense of IDENTITY. Who am I? Why am I here? Where am I going? Recognizing our true selves, developing a greater sense of purpose, clarifying our beliefs, articulating what we really believe, really think, really feel, and how we treat others, all contribute to becoming our REAL authentic selves. Ultimately, it contributes to the BALANCE we must obtain in the decade of the 2020s – a 10-year cycle which connects directly to the 4 energy (2+0+2+0 = 4).
When money, possessions, and position become “GOD”, the existence of people – and animals – and the planet herself – simply don’t matter. Everyone is “beneath” them. Everything is to be exploited – capitalized on. Greed narrows the mind so drastically that there is no space for feelings of empathy, caring, decency, or love.
In this 10-week concentration of 4 energy, it is doubtful that the usual trickery and propaganda will hold up against an awakening world population. 4 finds inaccuracy and corrects errors. Where something is wrong, 4 looks for ways to put it right. Remember that denial denies everything, including its own existence, but 4‘s matter-of-factness breaks down denial’s walls, and lets the truth in.
However, there is a “know-it-all” aspect on the shadow side of 4 which makes us obsess over petty details, and distracts us from more urgent matters – or makes us insist on doing something in what we believe is the “proper way”, while rejecting or ignoring better alternatives.
It is difficult to plan ahead at this time, but 4‘s focus on DETAIL enables us to plan more effectively, map things out, and be aware of aspects that we would usually ignore or take out of context. 4 helps us to visualize what a situation most needs.
We know the road ahead will not be easy.

OCTOBER is a 1 Month in this 9 Global Year, (10+9=1+9=1+0=1). 1 represents CHANGE and NEW BEGINNINGS. 9 brings things to a head so that something significant ENDS, and creates openings for those new ideas to be conceived or enacted. 9 enables us to move forward by LETTING GO of the past, and allowing it to move into its right place, behind us. Deep emotions are unavoidable this month.
The 2 energy of the 2000s and the 2020s is ushering in an era of COOPERATION and DIPLOMACY – to replace the CONTEST, VIOLENCE, and sheer EVIL that arose out of the 1000s.
1 is the number of CHANGE. 1 is also the number of the INDIVIDUAL – the SELF.
SELF ACCEPTANCE is self-respect and self-love, and as it replaces the unevolved state of “selfishness”, the whole system will change, on the inside first, and then extend outwardly towards OTHERS, and into the world at large. Slowly but surely, we are changing – one individual at a time – each in our own unique way.
Strengthening ourselves emotionally is essential. This does not mean cutting our feelings off and denying them the outward expression they need. Quite the opposite – it means having the strength to feel all that we are feeling, without our minds shutting them down for fear of – ironically – losing our minds.
I wrote an article six years ago regarding the 2020s, entitled HOLD ON! LET GO! It pertains as much to what is happening today as it did back then.
