What Is A Reversed Luo Shu Axis? by Kartar Diamond

Within the practice of Nine Star Ki, there is a circumstance referred to as the “Reversed Luo Shu Axis.” It is one of the most noteworthy observations that can be made in Nine Star Ki analysis. The term itself was conceived by current-day Nine Ki expert Heluo Hill.

For our purposes here, it would be good to explain a little bit about Nine Star Ki first and then what the words “luo shu” mean as well.  By the time we attach the English words “reversed” and “axis” to the term, this mysterious phrase makes perfect sense.

Before elaborating on definitions, I’ll release some of the suspense by stating that when a Nine Ki practitioner describes a situation as a Reversed Luo Shu Axis, it can indicate there is a higher chance for things to go awry in a person’s life and plans. It can also align with worldly events which affect many people.  If Nine Star Ki is a predictive art form, the term indicates something negative and out of the ordinary can happen.

The deeper we go into the Nine Ki analysis, the more we can forecast what type of problem may arise.  Will someone meet an untimely death?  Will someone find their bank account has been hacked?  Will someone receive a subpoena to appear in court?  Will a politician lose an election? The stars, in a coded type of calculation, will also give more specifics as to what actually may transpire.

In the briefest way possible, Nine Star Ki can be defined as an ancient forecasting discipline, rooted in Chinese metaphysics. On the surface, it appears to be a numerical system for determining the outcomes or influences at certain moments in time. This can be with an individual or in global events.  But this is not Numerology in the Western Pythagorean sense.  Rather, the numeric coding references the trigrams from the I-Ching oracle and from which the separate practice of Feng Shui borrowed some of the associations.

The numeric, energetic coding is displayed in configurations which resemble variations of Magic Squares. One of the more well-known magic squares, used in both Nine Star Ki and Feng Shui practice, is the Saturn Magic Square, which looks like a Tic-Tac-Toe grid: nine boxes which are presented as three rows and three columns, allowing for the nine boxes (called palaces) to be filled with numbers which flow in a particular pattern.

The word “luo” can mean net, like a fishing net. In Chinese metaphysics, it also references a book called “The River Luo.”  It is from the actual River Luo that a tortoise appeared to emerge from several thousand years ago. This “tortoise” might as well have been an Unidentified Submarine Object, but as the fable goes, the tortoise’s shell had specific markings on it.

Those markings were a series of dots, showcasing a type of binary code.  Longer story shortened, this is where the Pre-Heaven Luo Shu Sequence came from. Eventually, a different arrangement of the Luo Shu came into being, inspired by an imprisoned King Wen, known as the Post-Heaven Sequence, and commonly used in Flying Star School Feng Shui.  Much more has been written about the Luo Shu and it appears to be a profound, potentially holographic space-time depiction of cosmic principles, but that is a discussion for another day.

In Nine Star Ki, each Year has its own Luo Shu grid and the cycles repeat every nine years. Another layer consists of monthly luo shu grids, which combine with the Annual charts, to tell a story, an imprint of what may happen to a person or place.  The combination of a Year and Month chart will have 18 different numbers (called stars), symbolizing many possibilities and interpretations.  The arrangement of the stars is then focused on a subject where certain stars take center stage and the irrelevant stars fade into the background.

One arrangement of the stars results in a “Reversed Luo Shu Axis.” The word “axis” refers to the alignment of the stars themselves.  Whatever box (called a palace) we are focused on, the box directly across from it is on the same “axis.”  This is what we pay most attention to: the stars that are all aligned on the same axis. They have a relationship with each other, with the tension of a taut rope, but often referred to as pole magnetism.  Stars which would normally be dormant become alive on the axis.

In the illustration example given in this article, we can see in the top row/middle column a large number 6 and it is polar opposite a large number 7 on the bottom row/middle column.  Those two stars have a relationship with each other, as they are on the same axis. You can clearly see all the stars and the pairing of their polar opposite axis star.

Now comes the arrangement we call “Reversed.”  Each of the numbers (stars), has an inherent home, a place of birth.  And when that star is residing in the chart in the polar opposite of its home, that is called “Reversed Luo Shu Axis.” If you were “away from home,” and as far away from home as you could possibly be, you might also be anxious, home sick, off-balance and not able to function as well as normal because of this situation.  Likewise, the star energy, when “reversed,” will usually exhibit more negative tendencies than positive.

In the illustration example in this article, we see a small bold 6 star, highlighted in yellow. This 6 month star is on its Reversed Luo Shu Axis because it is positioned in a “palace” associated with the direction of Southeast.  The “home” direction for the 6 star is Northwest, where we see on the chart that a small 8 Month star is taking its place. With the 6 star “cast out” of its home direction and on the Reversed Luo Shu Axis, we can expect this star to manifest in a more negative way.

For example, the 6 Star is associated with car accidents and much more likely when the 6 star is on the Reversed Luo Shu Axis, compared to any other position it could land in on a yearly or monthly basis. Additionally, this 6 month star is paired with a 1 star. The 1 star energy alludes to things moving downward, the way water flows. In this case, a 6 and 1 star paired together could signal a car crash where the car ends up in a ditch or a lake.

On the same chart, we see a large 8 star highlighted in yellow.  This “palace” is the Southwest. The 8 star’s home base is polar opposite in the Northeast palace.  Instead, the 5 star is occupying the 8 star’s home position. Therefore, this 8 Year star is on the Reversed Luo Shu Axis.  Because of this, life can be more of a struggle for an 8 star person in this yearly cycle. Additionally, the 8 star energy is off-kilter in a number of other ways, so the more negative attributes of the 8 star are more likely to manifest.

Now we can understand the phrase “Reversed Luo Shu Axis” and identify it on a Luo Shu chart.   The Reversed Luo Shu Axis for any star can be calculated and tracked. Each star moves in a predictable cycle. There are yearly, monthly and daily manifestations of this and they strongly correlate when strange and serious things happen to people and places.

How often does a person’s chart reveal a Reversed Luo Shu Axis?  For yearly cycles, it will happen once every nine years. The exception is for people who identify as the 5 Soil Star.

Every star (and person) will find themselves on a Monthly Reversed Luo Shu Axis once or twice per year. And then there are other occasions when your own personal Star will be aligned with another star that is on its own Reversed Luo Shu Axis.  This is how a person can be affected indirectly by this cycle, almost like being an innocent bystander to someone else’s problem or struggle.

For example, if we look at the same chart example, we see that the 8 star on its Reversed Luo Shu Axis is paired with the 4 star.  A 4 star person is someone who was born in 4 star years like 1969, 1978, 1987, 1996.  The 4 star person may have some unexpected challenges that particular month because they are engaged with and paired up with the 8 star, whose having a bad hair day or worse.

When a Nine Star Ki practitioner performs a review for a client, they should be trained well enough to recognize the Reversed Luo Shu Axis cycles. They can then forewarn and help the client plan their goals and projects in the best timing instead of potentially the worst timing.
