What Does a “Mixed” Day Mean In A Feng Shui Review? by Kartar Diamond

Inquiring minds want to know.  In a traditional Feng Shui consultation or annual update, a client may discover that certain days on their Feng Shui calendar are listed as “mixed.” A big part of Feng Shui philosophy is about timing and the goal to do things in good timing, including the installation of remedies or changes made to a property.

Doing something in poor timing will yield a less satisfying result, as with just about anything you can think of, which is just common sense.  In addition to classical Feng Shui timing cycles, such as annual or monthly influences, some practitioners also incorporate Chinese astrology into their evaluations.  Chinese astrology is more about the person than the house, but there is an overlap in some applications.  For example, the Rat and Horse signs oppose each other.  If a house “sits’ (back wall) to the Rat direction of North, it could be a draining house type for a person born in the Year of the Horse.  This is an example of blending Feng Shui with Chinese astrology.

Another example is something called the Tai Sui or Grand Duke direction, which changes from year to year.  If it is the Year of the Horse, which is associated with dead-on South, having an entrance door which places your back to the Horse direction when you enter, can be seen as a vulnerable direction for coming and going.

The concept of “mixed” days is what you may suspect, where there can be both good and bad influences all in one day.  Some people discover in their Feng Shui update, that the yearly Chinese zodiac sign might be in opposition to their own sign. They may find that the Yearly Opposition sign is the same as what is normally their Lucky Money Day. This happens to everyone occasionally.

We can look at those “mixed days” from the standpoint of pros and cons, positive and negative, much like the Feng Shui qualities of a house.  Someone might have a great entrance, but undermining energy in their bedroom. Does one cancel the other out?

Someone might have a house that has overall great energy for financial luck, but their home office could be in the worst location within the house. This is a Feng Shui example of “mixed” energy and it’s just like a student getting both A’s and C’s in their classes, resulting in a B grade point average.  Hot water mixed with cold water results in lukewarm water.

Now, instead of these contradictions of place and time creating nothing but a “lukewarm” result, sometimes both positives and negatives manifest with full force, and one may not have anything to do with the other.  I’m reminded of an old boyfriend I had who was a motivational speaker.  One morning he was in a significant car accident which totaled his car and he had to walk home. As he checked his voicemail messages, he noticed that at the same time he was in the accident, someone called him regarding a $20,000 speaking engagement.   Was that a mixed day?  I would say so.

Once a person sits for a minute to reflect on their own unique goals and concerns, that person should be able to determine what risks to take on any given day.  If your Lucky Money Day is also an Opposition Day, perhaps you will win your lawsuit with financial compensation, but have a harder time collecting.   A day sign that is lucky for you, might be the general Opposition Day for everyone that year.  In your case, perhaps you fare better than others since it is your special day based on birth data.

Most of us have mixed circumstances on an on-going basis. With the foreknowledge of Feng Shui and personal astrology, we can adjust our goals and activities to make the most of any situation and experience a better outcome.
