Chinese New Year is coming and it’s not just a time for family gatherings and celebrations, it’s also one of the busiest travel times of the year, at least here in Asia. Chinese New Year is the biggest holiday in Asia and is celebrated over 15 days.
This year, Chinese New Year falls on 17 February 2026, and large numbers of people will be travelling to spend the festive days with their families or take the opportunity to enjoy a short holiday.
So I thought I’d share the good travel dates for the CNY period with you, in case you are still planning your travels.

To get home in time for the celebrations, the best travel dates are as follows:
| Date | Conflict Animal (ie NOT a good day for this zodiac animal) |
| Monday, 9th February 2026 | Monkey |
| Tuesday, 10th February 2026 | Rooster |
| Wednesday, 11th February 2026 | Dog |
During the 15 days of the Chinese New Year Period, the following are the most auspicious travel dates:
| Date | Conflict Animal | |
| Wednesday, 18th February 2026 | 2nd Day of CNY | Snake |
| Thursday, 30th January 2025 | 3rd Day of CNY | Horse |
| Friday, 31st January 2025 | 5th Day of CNY | Monkey |
| Saturday, 1st February 2025 | 6th Day of CNY | Rooster |
| Sunday, 2nd February 2025 | 7th Day of CNY | Dog |
| Monday, 3rd February 2025 | 14th Day of CNY | Snake |
| Wednesday, 12th February 2025 | 15th Day of CNY | Horse |
However, travelling on February 20, 26, 27 and 28 should be avoided, as these are BAD days to travel during the 15 day CNY period, and so is the 4th March, immediately after the festive CNY time.
If you cannot avoid travelling on one of the less auspicious days, I would highly recommend carrying a protective amulet with you, e.g. the 28 Hums Safety Talisman Amulet. In addition, the conflict animals mentioned in the tables above would also benefit from carrying a protective amulet during their journey if they must travel on those specific dates.
Wishing you safe travels!
