An Interview with Venus Castleberg

Spiritual Transformations

However, nothing in her eclectic adventures could have braced her for the revelations that began at the age of thirty. Venus started experiencing otherworldly phenomena, encountering spirits and extraterrestrial beings. This period was not only intense but also deeply isolating, plunging her into what she describes as her “dark night of the soul.” Yet, instead of succumbing to despair, Venus embraced a path of profound self-discovery and healing. Over the past two decades, she has mastered more than twenty transformative healing modalities, including hypnotherapy, Shamanism, Tarot, Reiki, and Access Consciousness.

Now, as the founder of Psychic University and Enlightenment Academy, Venus empowers spiritual leaders to nurture their growth and expand their influence. With over twenty years of experience in energy healing and consciousness work, she believes true leadership is born from deepening our awareness and connections, not merely from acts of doing. Venus’s approach to spiritual leadership emphasizes the importance of self-expansion in harnessing and fully guiding others through their transformative journeys.

Her weekly TV show and podcast serve as a platform for Venus to share her unique insights and methods, helping spiritual leaders, coaches, and healers delve deeper into their practices, broaden their perspectives, and step into more potent expressions of their work. Join her as she explores the art of becoming, guiding listeners to elevate their gifts, amplify their messages, and create impactful experiences for their communities. OMTimes Interview

OMTimes: How do you differentiate between your thoughts and feelings and those you perceive through psychic intuition?

Venus Castleberg: When it all began, I could only see—spirits, symbols, little trinkets like necklaces. It felt like playing an endless game of charades, trying to piece together the meaning of what I was shown. At the time, I found it frustrating, like I was always guessing. But looking back, I realize that was a gift in itself. If I had been able to hear spirits speak to me clearly from the start, I probably would have handed all my power over to them, believing they had all the answers instead of learning to trust myself.

Over time, I did start to hear things—whispers, fleeting words—but that was never my strongest gift. Seeing remained my primary way of connecting. And after years of practice, something else emerged… I just knew things. Information would land in my awareness, things I couldn’t possibly have known through logic or reason. That’s the funny thing about intuition—it doesn’t always make sense. It often leads me in directions I wouldn’t normally go and nudges me to say things I wouldn’t typically say.

My own thoughts? They follow a pattern. They’re logical, predictable, and built from past experiences and reasoning. But intuition? It’s wild, spontaneous, and sometimes downright illogical. And yet, when I follow it, life unfolds in ways I never could have orchestrated on my own.

That’s how I know the difference. My mind questions. Intuition knows.

OMTimes: How do you ensure that your psychic insights remain grounded and beneficial to those you share them with?

Venus Castleberg: When I was in my 20s, I was deeply in love with a man I truly thought I would marry. I was young, hopeful, and, let’s be honest, a little obsessed with finding the one. So, like any love-struck girl looking for confirmation, I went to a psychic. She looked me straight in the eye and told me, He’s not the one. You won’t meet your husband for another four years.

And just like that, I let those words shape my reality. I actually broke up with him because she said so. Not because I felt something was wrong. Not because I had a deep inner knowing. But because I believed she had some higher access to truth that I didn’t. Years later, I saw how disempowering that was, how I had handed over my choices, my future, to someone else’s words.

So, when I became a clairvoyant medium, I made a promise—to never do that to anyone.

Now, when I give readings, I don’t tell people who they will or won’t marry. I don’t hand out timelines or winning lottery numbers. That’s not the kind of reading I do. I see dead people. (LOL) But more importantly, I help people connect to their own knowing, their own wisdom, their own truth.

Instead of telling them what’s going to happen, I ask them questions. I help them see their patterns, their lessons, and the guidance that’s already around them. I remind them that they are the ones creating their lives, not me, not some unseen force dictating their destiny.

Psychic insight, to me, should always be empowering. It should offer clarity, not control. It should expand possibilities, not limit them. Because at the end of the day, what good is a message if it leaves someone feeling powerless?

OMTimes: Can you describe a profound spiritual experience that deepened your understanding of your psychic abilities?

Venus Castleberg: I was 30 when I took my Reiki Master class, excited to deepen my energy work but not expecting what was about to happen next. I came home that evening and offered to practice Reiki on my fiancé at the time. Simple enough, right? Just some energy work, some healing—nothing too wild.

But as I was moving my hands over him, the air in the room shifted. It felt heavier, charged, like someone else had just walked in. And then I saw him—this man standing there, clear as day, watching us. I started describing him out loud: what he looked like, what he was wearing, the energy he carried.

My fiancé’s eyes went wide. I know exactly who that is, he said. That’s the ranch hand from my family’s ranch when I was a kid.

I paused. Is he alive?

No.

And that was the moment. That was the moment I realized—Fanfuckingtastic. I’m a medium.

I’d love to say I was thrilled, that I embraced it with open arms, but the truth? I wasn’t exactly overjoyed. This wasn’t what I signed up for. Seeing spirits wasn’t part of my plan. But there it was—undeniable. That capacity was clear, whether I liked it or not.

That moment cracked something open in me. It wasn’t just about energy healing anymore; it was about connection, about the unseen world making itself seen. And no matter how much I wanted to ignore it, spirit had other plans.

OMTimes: How do you approach training individuals with latent psychic abilities who may initially be skeptical or fearful of their emerging skills?

Venus Castleberg: When I first started experiencing my gifts, I wanted nothing to do with them. I resisted them hard—for three years, in fact. I kept hoping they would just go away, that maybe if I ignored them long enough, they’d disappear, and I could go back to being “normal.” I was terrified of being seen as the crazy lady who talks to spirits.

But they never left. And the more I resisted, the worse I felt. I started sinking into depression, and deep down, I knew why. It wasn’t some mystery—it was the fact that I was denying a huge part of myself. The moment I stopped fighting it, the weight lifted. Over time, the universe kept handing me confirmation after confirmation that I wasn’t crazy. This was real.

So when I train people who are skeptical or afraid of their own emerging abilities, I start with my story. I let them know I get it. I know what it’s like to doubt, to fear, to wish it would all just stop. But I also know what’s on the other side of that resistance—freedom, clarity, and peace.

Then I help them do the thing that changed everything for me—learning to trust themselves. Because at the end of the day, there is no one and nothing more powerful than them unless they believe there is. Their abilities aren’t here to control them; they’re here to empower them.

And once they stop fighting, once they lean in just a little, the magic begins.

OMTimes: What challenges have you faced in your journey, and how have you overcome them?

Venus Castleberg: Probably the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced was being seen. Telling my story. Being vulnerable. Being different.

I’ve been different my whole life. I mean, my name is Venus. And what rhymes with Venus? Yeah… I heard it all as a kid. On top of that, I was tall—so tall that no pants ever fit me properly, and I spent way too much time trying to shrink myself into something normal. I did everything I could to blend in, to fit in, to not stand out. I played the middle of the road, made sure I looked good, made sure people liked me.
But my journey? It was really just me running around trying to get other people to love me… when I wouldn’t love myself.

So I tried everything—relationships, new places, new identities. I even went all-in on learning healing modalities. Twenty-five of them, to be exact. And yet, no matter how much I tried to fit in, I was still me—a six-foot-tall psychic medium who was anything but normal. And for a long time, I hid that part of myself because I was so afraid of what people would think.

But the real shift happened when I finally stopped trying to make myself small and started embracing all of me. When I stopped caring if people thought I was weird. When I let go of needing to be liked and just loved myself instead.

And just to make sure I really got the lesson, I wrote a book—telling all my secrets—so I could stop carrying the weight of what people might think of me.

Now? I know that being different is the gift. And the more I embrace it, the freer I feel.

OMTimes: How do you integrate different psychic abilities in your practice, and how do they complement each other?

Venus Castleberg: When I first started on this journey, I was searching for wholeness—piecing myself together through every healing modality, every spiritual practice, every insight I could find. I didn’t realize at the time that everything I was learning wasn’t just for me—it was preparing me to help others find their own way back to themselves.

Now, when I do life discovery readings, I don’t follow a strict formula. Sometimes numerology speaks the loudest, sometimes tarot offers the clearest message, and sometimes spirits on the other side step in with exactly what someone needs to hear. And sometimes, all of it weaves together seamlessly, creating a reading that’s as unique as the person sitting in front of me.

That’s the beauty of having so many tools—intuition guides me to the right one in the moment. I don’t have to choose between them; they work together, complementing and expanding the possibilities.

And it’s the same with Psychic University. I created it so I could facilitate, not just teach—so I could share from the wide variety of experiences and trainings I’ve gathered over the years. Every person who walks through those doors (or Zoom screens) is different, and I get to draw upon everything I’ve learned to see what will best contribute to them, right where they are.

The question I ask myself constantly is: Who can I serve, and how can I serve them?

Because at the end of the day, that’s what all these abilities are for—not to prove something, not to get everything right, but to be a contribution. And when I trust that, everything flows exactly as it’s meant to.

OMTimes: In what ways do you maintain your own energetic hygiene and protect yourself from negative influences while practicing deep psychic work?

Venus Castleberg: Years ago, I learned a tool from Access Consciousness that completely flipped everything I thought I knew about protection. Lower your walls and barriers.

At first, it sounded ridiculous. Like most people, I had been taught the opposite—that to stay safe, you had to put up walls, create shields, protect yourself from the bad, the heavy, the dark. So that’s what I did. I built barriers, wrapped myself in energetic armor, did every protection ritual under the sun. But no matter how much I tried to “protect” myself, I never actually felt safe.

What I didn’t realize was that those walls weren’t just keeping the bad out… they were keeping everything out. The good, the magic, the deep connection. I was separating myself from the very thing that could guide me—awareness.

So, I tried something different. I lowered my walls. I expanded my energy outward instead of pulling it in tight. And that’s when it clicked—awareness is the greatest protection there is. Not walls. Not shields.

It’s awareness that tells me not to walk down that alley. Awareness that says this business deal isn’t right. Awareness that nudges me to trust someone—or to walk away before my mind can even catch up.

So now, when I step into deep psychic work, I don’t hide behind barriers. I expand. I become bigger than anything that could possibly harm me. And in that space? There’s no fear. Just knowing.

OMTimes: Could you share an experience where you felt your abilities enabled a significant transformation or healing in another person?

Venus Castleberg: Recently, I met a woman who is a speech coach. We were just having a casual conversation about my story—how I became a psychic medium, how I lost my dad ten years before my gifts fully opened up. It wasn’t a reading, just me sharing my journey.

A week later, when we met again, she looked at me differently—softer, like something had shifted. Then she told me what had happened.

She had lost her dad almost a year ago, and in all that time, she had never seen him, never heard him, never felt him. It was like he was just… gone. But after our conversation, something cracked open. The very next day, her daughter looked at her and casually said, Grandpa is here.

And then, that night, just before she went to sleep, her dad came to her. She heard him. He told her he loved her that he was with her. And just like that, she knew.

She thanked me—not for giving her a message, but for simply opening her up to the possibility of hearing from him. That alone was enough to create a deep healing for her.

It was one of those moments that reminded me of something I’ve seen again and again—sometimes I don’t even have to try to activate someone’s gifts or awareness. Just being in my energy, just sharing my story, is enough for something inside of them to awaken.

I used to think transformation only happened through direct teaching, but now I see it happens in the most unexpected ways. A conversation. A presence. A moment of knowing that ripples out and changes everything.

OMTimes: Can you start by explaining what it’s like to channel non-human beings? How do these experiences differ from more conventional psychic interactions?

Venus Castleberg: Channeling non-human beings is… different. It was expensive. It’s like stretching beyond what my mind thinks is possible and stepping into something far greater.

When I connect with The Collective—a group of beings from the Syrian Council—it’s not like a one-on-one conversation with a spirit or a loved one who has passed. There’s no singular voice, no distinct personality. It’s a presence, a vast consciousness that speaks not in words but in energy, in knowing.

But here’s the interesting part—they simplify things for me. They know human minds love structure, love stories, love something to hold onto. So, when they communicate, they often give me metaphors or visual stories to help translate what they’re sharing into something I can actually grasp. It’s like trying to explain quantum physics to a toddler—you don’t start with equations; you start with a simple idea, something relatable. They do the same for me.

And the messages? They aren’t about separation, hierarchy, or who’s from where. They speak of unity. Of remembering that we are not alone, that we never have been. That the idea of “otherness” is just an illusion we’ve bought into for too long.

Unlike conventional psychic interactions—where I might see, hear, or feel something specific—channeling them is more like stepping into a current of energy and letting it flow through me. There’s no effort, no forcing. Just opening, receiving, and allowing their wisdom to become words.

And every time I do, I’m reminded… There is so much more than what we see.

OMTimes: What was your first encounter with extraterrestrial consciousness like, and how did you come to realize the nature of the beings you were communicating with?

Venus Castleberg: The first time I knowingly encountered extraterrestrial consciousness, I wasn’t in some deep meditation or staring up at the stars. Nope—I was in church.
I had just learned how to practice seeing the spiritual world with my physical eyes, so I was playing with my awareness, letting my vision soften. And that’s when I saw her. A 3.5-foot pink alien, standing right there. In church.

I froze. My mind scrambled to make sense of it. What. The. Hell?

I was shocked, uncomfortable, and honestly, questioning my sanity—until my friend sitting next to me casually looked over and said, Oh yeah, that’s Grandma. Like it was the most normal thing in the world. He had a lot of experiences with extraterrestrials, so if he wasn’t freaking out, I figured maybe I didn’t need to either.
She didn’t speak to me then, at least not in words. But she was kind, gentle, and happy that I could see her. That moment cracked something open in me.

It wasn’t until years later that I connected with The Collective—beings from the Syrian Council who now communicate through me, downloading messages that I usually receive through writing. At first, I questioned everything. But after 20 years of this work, after so many confirmations in the most random places from the most unexpected people, I’ve come to trust what I see, feel, and hear more than ever.

Because once you open the door to this level of awareness, the universe has a way of making sure you know you’re not imagining it.

OMTimes: How do you navigate the challenges that come with understanding and translating the messages received from these non-human entities into concepts that humans can understand?

Venus Castleberg: I wouldn’t actually say it’s challenging to translate their messages—it’s more like a dance, a playful exchange. They make it easy for me, often speaking in metaphors, weaving humor into their wisdom, and reminding me (constantly) that humans take everything way too seriously.

One of my favorite messages from them was about trust. They said, Do you plant a seed and then keep digging it up to check if it’s growing? Or do you just relax and let it grow at its own pace?

That hit me. Because, let’s be real, humans are notorious for wanting instant results, proof, validation. But they remind me—again and again—that the universe doesn’t work like that.

It’s about flow, timing, trust.

They simplify things because they know our minds love to overcomplicate. They don’t overwhelm me with dense, cosmic downloads that would take me years to decipher. Instead, they meet me where I am, using symbols, humor, and stories that make their wisdom click in a way that’s easy to share with others.

So, for me, it’s not about struggling to understand. It’s about listening, allowing, and trusting that whatever needs to come through will come through in the way it’s meant to.

OMTimes: Could you share how these psychic experiences have influenced your view of the universe and our place within it?

Venus Castleberg: When I first became a psychic medium, it wasn’t just about talking to spirits—it was deeply healing for me. Before that, all I had to make sense of the afterlife was the fear-based teachings of religion—heaven, hell, and a whole lot of uncertainty about what actually happens when we die. I used to think that when a person crossed over, they just magically became enlightened, instantly wise and evolved. Turns out… not so much.

Spirits carry their personalities, their quirks, even their unfinished business with them. Death doesn’t erase who we are; it just shifts our perspective.

But the biggest shift for me wasn’t just in understanding the afterlife—it was in understanding life itself.

I’ve had the privilege of seeing how we are all connected, not just in some abstract spiritual way, but in a very real, almost scientific way—like neurons in a massive cosmic brain, each of us lighting up and sending signals across an infinite web. I’ve seen how we are all individual cells in the body of God, each playing our unique part, each vital to the whole. And at the core of it all? The same golden light energy pulsing through everything.

It changed everything for me. There’s no true separation. No one is ever really alone. We are all one, each expressing that oneness in our own way, just like different cells in a body performing their unique function. Some are healers, some are protectors, some are creators, but we’re all part of something vast and interconnected.

And once you see that, really see it, you can’t unsee it. It changes how you move through the world. You start to realize that every interaction, every relationship, every challenge is just another thread in this intricate, beautiful web of existence.

OMTimes: Regarding psychic abilities, what unique or unconventional skills have you developed through your interactions with extraterrestrial and non-human beings?

Venus Castleberg: Honestly? Probably just the ability to channel them—LOL.?

But if I really think about it, it’s not just about channeling their words. It’s the way they’ve expanded my awareness, shifted how I receive information, and taught me to trust what I know without needing proof.

Their energy is different—lighter, more direct, and often playful. They don’t get caught up in drama or overcomplication like humans do. And over time, just being in their presence has rewired how I perceive things. I pick up on energy faster, sense things beyond words, and often just know something before it’s even said.

So maybe that’s the unconventional skill—being able to tap into a level of awareness that goes beyond logic, beyond the five senses, and just receive. No filters. No doubt. Just an open channel to something greater.

What precautions do you take to ensure that your communications with these entities remain safe and beneficial?
The best protection I’ve ever found isn’t a white light bubble or some elaborate ritual—it’s lowering my walls and expanding my awareness.

I learned early on that entities who are truly here to help don’t disempower you. They don’t judge you, manipulate you, or make you feel wrong. The ones that do? Those aren’t the beings you want to be chatting with.

So now, instead of shielding myself, I do the opposite—I expand. I become so big, so present, that anything that isn’t a contribution simply doesn’t stick. If something feels heavy, off, or disempowering, I don’t engage. I don’t fight it or fear it—I just see it for what it is, and in that awareness, it loses all power over me.

Because here’s the thing: awareness is the greatest protection there is. When you trust what you know, you don’t have to worry about getting pulled into anything that isn’t aligned with you. You just navigate around it—no force, no struggle, just choice.

OMTimes: Have you ever encountered a form of psychic ability or phenomenon in your work that you believe is not yet recognized or understood by mainstream paranormal researchers?

Venus Castleberg: Most of what you see in mainstream paranormal research is built on fear—ghosts haunting, entities lurking, something out there to get you. But in my experience, the only thing my gifts have ever truly given me is freedom from fear.

I’ll never forget the moment that solidified this for me. There was a time when I encountered what most people would call dark energy. Instead of running, shielding, or banishing it, I did something completely different—I invited it in, not in some reckless way, but with total openness and curiosity.
And you know what happened?

It didn’t attack. It didn’t grow stronger. It transformed. Right in front of me, this heavy, dark energy shifted into tiny bubbles of light, floating gently away, thanking me as it left.

That’s when I knew—there is nothing to fear about the spirit realm. Fear itself is the only thing that gives these energies power. The moment you meet them with openness instead of resistance, they shift. They aren’t what we’ve been told they are.

And maybe that’s the phenomenon mainstream paranormal research hasn’t quite caught up to yet—what if darkness isn’t something to fight… but something to acknowledge, to see for what it really is? What if the scariest things only exist because we believe they should?

OMTimes: Can you describe a particularly impactful message or lesson that you’ve received from these extraterrestrial or non-human contacts?

Venus Castleberg: One of the most impactful messages I’ve ever received from The Collective is simple but shifts everything—we are all one.

Not just in some poetic, feel-good way, but in a very real, tangible way. They’ve shown me how we are all threads in the same fabric, neurons in the same cosmic brain, individual cells in the body of something so vast we can’t even comprehend it. The separation we believe in—between humans, between beings, between dimensions—is just an illusion we’ve bought into for so long that we think it’s real.

They remind me constantly that if we could truly see this oneness, there would be no war, no fear, no judgment. Because hurting another would be like hurting yourself.

It’s not about losing individuality—it’s about recognizing that we are all expressions of the same energy, playing different roles in this massive, interconnected dance. And the moment we remember that? Everything changes.

OMTimes: How do you help others who are just beginning to experience similar psychic phenomena, especially those who might be hesitant or scared?

Venus Castleberg: When someone is just starting to experience their psychic abilities and they’re feeling hesitant or scared, the first thing I help them see is this—there is nothing to fear. No one and nothing is more powerful than them unless they believe it is.

Fear only has power when we feed it. The moment we stop seeing our gifts as something to be afraid of and start seeing them as an expansion of who we truly are, everything shifts.

I also remind them that it’s okay to be different. It’s okay if not everyone understands. Not everyone will, and that’s not a problem. The real work is being willing to be yourself, even if it makes some people uncomfortable. Some people might fall away—and that’s okay too. Because the right people? The ones who see you, celebrate you, and are excited about your gifts? They will find you.

And when they do, you’ll realize you were never meant to dim yourself to fit in. You were meant to shine.

OMTimes: What advice would you give to our listeners who might be interested in exploring more about their own potential psychic abilities or experiences with non-human consciousness?

Venus Castleberg: If you’re feeling called to explore your own psychic abilities or experiences with non-human consciousness, my biggest piece of advice is this—trust yourself more than you think you should. You already know so much more than you give yourself credit for.

That being said, having the right guidance can make all the difference. I’ve had many teachers and mentors over the years, and while I would have found my way eventually, they helped me get farther, faster. The key is to find someone you truly connect with—someone who empowers you to know what you know instead of telling you what to do. A teacher who stretches you and helps you see your blind spots but never makes you feel judged or crazy. (Because let’s be honest, you probably already think you’re crazy enough. You don’t need someone reinforcing that.)

To support you on this journey, I’d love to gift you my Channeling Your Higher Self webinar https://bit.ly/CYHSP —it’s designed to help you tap into your own knowing in a way that’s easier and more natural than you might expect. And if you’re looking for something deeper, my Psychic University program is here to help you embrace and enhance your gifts while realizing that you are not alone (or crazy). Right now, we have a waitlist for the next round, so if you feel pulled toward it, you can sign up for a free discovery call with me to see if it might be a fit for you when the doors open back up: https://bit.ly/ICWVenus

No matter where you are on this path, remember you belong here. Your gifts aren’t a mistake. They’re an invitation to heal and become whole.
