Many people like thinking about, talking about, and reading about ghosts and related paranormal phenomenon. It’s also a subject that comes up occasionally in a Feng Shui audit. This is also why it is an essential topic to learn about if one wants to use Feng Shui knowledge to avoid attracting a ghost or getting rid of a ghost already haunting a home or business.
There are various predictable reasons why a house attracts a spirit, ghost or entity and there are some DIY ways to get rid of a ghost. Of course, there are also some intense cases which require the help of someone who deals with this as their area of expertise.
Houses that have too many yin features are especially vulnerable to attracting a ghost, as well as places that have had intensely negative events where some person involved just could not “move on” and pass to the higher dimensional realms. This case study on feng shui and ghosts provides several tips for releasing a ghost and they come from more than one school of Feng Shui. Some techniques require knowledge of the Flying Star School.

“Ghost Versus Spirit
I might use the words “ghost” and “spirit” interchangeably, but I think that a spirit could best be differentiated from a ghost in that a spirit is a soul which has passed on to the other side, the after life, and has chosen to make an appearance for a definitive reason to connect with a person here on Earth. In fact, we might even include spirits as entities which never had a human form on Earth to begin with (like the spirit of a cat).
In the Chinese language and culture there are separate words to describe a deity or spirit, distinct from a ghost entrapped in our magnetic field. A word for spirit is “shen” and “gui” for ghost.
As one example, a client told me she saw a man wandering around her property right after a local earthquake in 1994. When she called out to him, he did not respond.
He later vanished after she went to get her husband. When telling her neighbor about this incident and a physical description of the man, the neighbor confirmed that this was the man who built the house, who had passed on some years before, previous to my client buying the house. She concluded that he was checking up on the house after the earthquake.”
