Feng Shui is all about creating harmony and balance in your surroundings, so you create positive energy that will support you and your family. Consequently, things that create negative energy should be avoided.
Here are five things you should NOT have in your home according to Feng Shui:
1. WATER IN THE BEDROOM
Fish tanks and water fountains are not recommended in a bedroom. While they are excellent tools to enhance your wealth and prosperity luck in a living room, dining room, or (home) office, water is too strong an element to have in a bedroom. Water creates too much yang energy and will disrupt the restful yin energy needed in a bedroom and can therefore in many cases cause bad sleep. The same goes for pictures and artwork featuring water. It is much better to keep these in the common rooms.
2. IMAGES OF FIERCE ANIMALS
While many people love and adore animals and enjoy displaying their images, it is important to ensure they are “friendly” animals. Dangerous or aggressive-looking animals emit negative energy, which can infiltrate the surroundings with negativity. Even an image of a sleeping lion could cause problems because – although you may think the lion is just a large pussycat, it is still a wild and unpredictable animal.
3. SHARP CORNERS
In Feng Shui, choosing round or oval tables and furniture with rounded corners is preferable for maintaining a harmonious energy flow. Sharp corners emit so-called “poison arrows”, which can cause feelings of unease and lead to illness.
In the case of square or rectangular dining tables, these can be covered with a tablecloth to soften the corners.
In the kitchen, it is best not to display your sharp knives and store them safely in a drawer or a knife block instead.
4. PLANTS WITH POINTED LEAVES
Plants are a great addition to your living space. However, please note that good Feng Shui plants have rounded leaves, as pointed leaves also create poison arrows (as mentioned above), cutting the chi like daggers.
5. CLOCKS THAT STOPPED WORKING
If any clocks or watches in your household have stopped working, it is vital to get them fixed or batteries replaced promptly. A functioning clock signifies action and a flow of energy, whereas a stopped clock symbolises stagnant energy. Stagnant energy is never a good thing and should be avoided in your living spaces.
