So, I thought I’d do something nice for my birthday back in February and that was get myself a new phone on a payment plan ( God forbid ). This has opened up a whole new world of grief and sadness and frustration. Not only am I broke but one of the main ways I used to make money was via my Instagram. But now I am completely locked out of my Instagram account due to having a new device. Before you ask, yes I have tried everything. I know the password I have the correct email the correct phone number the backup codes the authentication codes you name it I got it. But when I tried to login despite not having second authentication turned on it requires me to enter the one-time password via text message. The only problem is Instagram refuses to send me the text message. I have been trying for months. I have done a video face recognition verification five times and it keeps saying they will get back to me and they never do. I even signed up for a verified account with my other Instagram to speak to support which cost me money I don’t have, just to be told nine different times that there is nothing they can do even though the problem is clearly internal and on their side. They refuse to help me and I don’t know why this is happening to me.
Before you say can’t I just make a new account? No I cannot. I have a legacy verified account. Meaning my account was verified before it started costing money. Therefore if I make another account I’m going to look like the imposter trying to explain to people how I can’t get into my own verified account and why on Earth can’t Instagram help me.
So my question is will I ever get my Instagram account back? This is an account of 13 years plus. Over 130k followers- which by now I’m sure the algorithm has gone to complete **** anyway, and the people at Instagram for whatever reason refuse to actually help me.
They won’t push the otp for the text thru or remove the number, they won’t verify me via video face even though it says they will and 3 to 5 business days. They literally will not do anything.
And I just don’t know why after everything I’ve been through with my father stealing my settlement, evicting me, forcing me on the streets and now I’m living in a damn hotel, why something as ridiculous and unbelievably stupid like this can happen. And no I don’t have the old device. And it seems like the stars aligned because every device I did have would not log in either. I don’t know what the hell is going on but I know I did not deserve this.
Sorry for the rant. Every time I talk about this I get a bit enraged that a billion dollar company operates like a group chat between ring lights, it’s just a bit infuriating to say the least.
I tried to let it go but as I said I would not be able to operate on Instagram in any capacity if I did because how can I prove that I am who I am if I can’t access my actual verifed account?
Is there any hope whatsoever that someone will come along and actually help me get my account back. And NO, I never violated any terms or agreements. I also have a legacy verified Facebook page that’s in good standing as well. I’ve had several viral videos and I used to do live streams all the time. Happy birthday to me I guess.
