No…. This is emotional illness. These are disorders like neurosis. They are things that counseling psychologists generally work at. Self esteem issues. Issues involving hyper emotion(Jupiter is usually involved), or depressed emotions(Saturn is always involved). The astrologer looks to see what the normal process of limbic function is and then looks to see how the individual’s emotional illness is distorted from the expected. The individual can use their own cortical functions to address the emotional. This is always the major element in Personal Security. Before exploring Security, one needs to first look at either of the two choices represented by the reptile brain: Fight or flight in response to new situations. This is explored by impacts with the ASC.

Mental disorders are more toward deviations in thinking process: Personality disorders(such a Complex PTSD, narcissist personality disorder, schizophrenia, etc). While there is always an emotional component, the serious part is how the individual uses cortical thinking processes to deal with it. Astrologically, mental disorders involve Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, the asteroids Nemesis and Psyche, and another group of asteroids which work only when they aspect any of the three planets involved.
