Banana Nose Meets a Porcupine ⋆ Ann Perry Numerologist

This past weekend at the cottage, our dog Beau decided to test both his boundaries and my patience. He’s been learning the art of staying within his property lines—off leash, with no micromanaging from me.
(Yes, even I’m learning to let go and trust!)

Well, in the middle of the night, Beau woke me up for a bathroom break. Out we went with my lantern in hand. He headed to his usual spot, but suddenly perked up, head held high, eyes sharp. Then, without hesitation he dove into the bushes. Ugh. Everything in me knew this wasn’t going to end well.

Seconds later, he emerged, head shaking, with six shiny new accessories sticking out of his long Collie nose. His very first porcupine encounter. Is it any wonder why his friends at the daycare affectionately call him “Banana Nose?”

The enormous porcupine scrambled up a tree while I scrambled to get Beau inside. Together, Serge and I pulled out all six quills. And here’s the wild part: Beau has always been a little timid around Serge. But that night, with some resistance, he surrendered by letting Serge pull them out one by one. The next morning, Beau greeted Serge with a wagging tail and gratitude in his eyes. For the first time, there was a new warmth between them. I couldn’t believe it.

The Message in the Quills

Spirit has a sense of humour, doesn’t it? Of all numbers, Beau walked away with six quills. In Numerology, the number 6 is about love, healing, nurturing, and responsibility. It’s about showing up for each other in times of need. Beau may have gotten himself into a prickly situation, but it created an unexpected moment of healing and trust.

And then there’s the porcupine itself. Symbolically, porcupine energy reminds us to approach life with innocence, curiosity, and trust—while also respecting boundaries. You don’t need to fight every battle head-on. Sometimes the sharp lesson is just enough to nudge you back to where you need to be. (And that includes out of the bushes at 2am!)

The Aha Moment

Isn’t life like that? We rush into the bushes, get ourselves into trouble, and come out a little prickly. But those “ouch” moments often become the doorway to healing, trust, and deeper connections.

For Beau, six quills turned into one of the warmest greetings Serge has ever received. Score! For us, it’s a reminder that boundaries, trust, and love often grow stronger through the prickly bits.

So, if you’re nursing a few metaphorical quills of your own right now, ask yourself: Is this discomfort here to create more love and trust for me?

Here’s Your Affirmation for the Week …

“I trust that even life’s prickly moments are guiding me toward deeper love, healing, and connection.”

If you’re ready to understand the deeper story playing out in your numbers, I’d love to help you untangle the quills and find the healing lesson hidden inside. (Yup. Pun intended!)
