Chart of Meghan Trainor, an instructive lesson in the difference between 1st and 10th house

Hello. Today I would like to share Meghan Trainor’s chart with you, and also talk about the difference between the 1st and 10th house briefly.

I have sometimes heard people talk about which house is more important, the 1st or the 10th. Normally the conventional wisdom is that the 1st is the most important, for the simple fact that it symbolizes the physical body, represents the moment our soul came into this world and took its first breath, contains the ascendant, and is the very first house of a chart. However, the 10th house, arguably the 2nd most important house of a chart, contains the highest, most visible point of a chart, the Midheaven. The fact that some people would even entertain that the 10th is more important than the 1st, tells us how incredibly important and powerful the 10th is.

Personally, I think the 1st is more important, however, I believe the 10th is a very, very, very close second. Not only that, in some aspects of life, I think that it really does over-ride the 1st in terms of the results produced. Most notably in matters that pertain to the native’s career, standing in society, reputation, achievement, lasting legacy, things of that nature. IMHO, the 10th will never overtake the 1st house in terms of importance, however, in terms of results that it produces, some of them are more pronounced than those produced by the 1st, in the sense that they are much more visible. Not more important, just more visible.

Now to add to the foregoing, I present the chart of the famous singer, Meghan Trainor. I am sure we have all heard of the catchy song that she is most famous for, “All about that bass”. I loved this song, so naturally I looked up the artist who’s behind it. And I have to say that, when I first saw that she had Saturn conjunct her Ascendant almost exact, I was very surprised. Because Ms. Trainor was anything BUT Saturn-like to me. I mean, yeah, it’s in Aquarius, so maybe it’s not that saturnine and not that serious, however, we all know that planet is more important than sign. So, doesn’t matter how much I want to deny it, she is most certainly a very serious, no-nonsense, maybe even kind of depressed, individual.

And for those of you who have ever hummed to the tune of “All about that bass”, I am sure you would think I am off my rocker. Meghan Trainor serious and depressed? Dude you must be high on drugs. But wait. Look at her 10th house, her house of achievement, lasting fame, and how the world, the public, sees she as. And lo and behold, she has the happy-go-lucky Sagittarius as her 10th house. Technically, she doesn’t have anything on her Midheaven, however, she does contain planets in the house. And she has Mercury, as well as Venus, in her 10th. Both are happy, outgoing planets, and furthermore, they are supported by a very helpful trine from her Moon, and this further helps strengthen them. This now makes more sense, and fits her public persona much better than her Saturn. I feel that she really appears to me as a fun, light-hearted, carefree, full of joy, type of person. And this goes to show us that sometimes, the 10th house and 10th house planets, really do produce more pronounced results than the technically more important 1st house. And of course, this doesn’t mean that her Saturn is not expressed or that it’s erased. Rather, it just means that when you first see her, she could very well be a very Saturn-like person, serious, purposeful, responsible, ambitious, and all things Capricorn-like. However, most of us will never know her personally, so we don’t see this side of her. Instead, all we see is her 10th, because that is how she is known, in an impersonal way, for.

Anyway, I think this is incredibly interesting. Thanks for listening.
