Curiosity about 8th house | Astrologers’ Community & Forum

venus moon are in cancer…square jupiter…

they are not gemini. Not even a tinge. They are excessively overblown glaringly cancer.

its like this…. You put a potato in water, does not turn into into water. Not even boiling the thing. It is what It is.

and again, you cant arbitrarily do ‘escape artist’ thing and chuck them elsewhere to appease your confusion. The printer has a problem and takes space so chucks them elsewhere. It does not mean they are there.

if you just examine how over caring and over involved and over responsive you are in others lives and problems I think it will answer it for you.

but with sun opp neptune i can see the confusion and muddle originates there.

bro. Since we all have eyes, I might looking for an answer which could go deeper the (part of) chart you just described, and that doesn’t rely on your blatantly personal, assuming, interpretation. Thanks for the not determining, not eyes-opening, not life changing, definitely not mind stimulating, contribution.

Hi Juliette,
I’m not of the same astrological mind of many who use the 5 degree theory of placing an applying planet to the cusp of the following house as being interpretted as ONLY in that house. I could use the logic that if ‘the gods that be’ wanted it so, they would have placed it there. Or, what if a planet is in retrograde motion and takes years … or never … to cross a cusp. Consequently, there must be a reason for it being where it is.

Keeping to your original query only, for me Moon-Venus are therefore natally placed, and would be interpretted as in the 8th house. It is from this house that they throw off their joint Cancer meaning expressed through/via an 8th house Gemini influence. Cancer influences affect the caring feeling qualities within a person, and water signs generally express this via the imaginative quality that lies within each sign. Cancer feelings expressed through Moon do not generally lie deep under the surface. With soft aspects Moon’s attraction towards others can express itself ‘kindly and lovingly'(Venus). With harsh aspects it carries a reputation of ‘feeling’ easily hurt by outer circumstances it incurs. An 8th house configuration might tend to keep its feelings hidden inside, whereas Gemini on the 8th house cusp would tend to be more inquisitive and curious in its search for answers of ‘why’ situations occur as they do.

Moon invariably finds an association with how the individual experiences ‘maternal bonding’ as a child/parent. The 8th house can be suggestive of the strong influence around one’s birth/birthing, the maternal relationship, of which aspects to other planets add their functional qualities. The 8th house could also be suggestive of one’s own ‘interest’ in birth/life/death experiences. The influence towards intimate relationships is also strong …. and Gemini’s questioning of them/their purpose.

What would be interesting to know is what happened in the early months of childhood when the Moon aspect progressed from the 8th house into the 9th house. ‘A journey across water’ as ancient lore might have predicted in days of yore. Natal Sun is in the 9th house that could indicate ‘a life influenced by other than where one was born’ (as my chart has!), which would then fulfil the ‘taken in the following house’ theory. Yet I would argue that the 8th house position of Moon-Venus’s feelings in Cancer remains a dominant theme that could ‘play on one’s mind'(Gemini on 8th house cusp) throughout one’s life. ‘(Non) acceptance of whom one is/is not?’

The 9th house has further associations with the broadening of the mind through foreign influences, philosophies, cultures, superstitions, legal laws and benefits, as well as pill-and-potion health issues (rather than 6th house physical complaints and sickness).

From your previous posts, you would seem to be interested in ‘the love aspect’ of a Moon-Venus in 8th house. The aspects made to the conjunction will provide more information that might well pull them towards adventures far from home.

Thanks so much Frisiangal. Actually I posted this topic because I cannot exactly rely on the personal perception of these two placements. Like, I perfectly know how I function, but I’m not able to perfectly address the behaviour to that placements and consider them responsible. I can share my perception and maybe you could give a direction?

Premise for everyone out there: my moon and Venus are exactly conjunct and both in the 8th house. You don’t check the glyphs which can be displaced when close to other glyphs due to their dimensions, you check their lines in the degrees layer.

IMO my moon has way strong 8th house energy with gemini tendencies. I tell you why.
Still in cancer (emotional intelligent, always fluid on how to balance my energy according who I am interacting with – and never missing the point – , relationship with mother is good, perfect handling of reactions), but the work I had to do on myself to simply surrender to negative emotions, rather than obsessively spiralling looking for a cause-effect justification and rationalise them (as it could somehow help in watching them from a distance) to the point I was losing the sight, was HUGE, and long. Meanwhile, from outside you couldn’t see anything of what was going on within my mind.
A cancer moon is mature enough to accept those emotions without the need to rely on external help. A PURE cancer moon doesn’t need anyone to teach them how to process emotions, it is like THE trademark, isn’t it? Might need help for someting else, but surely not on this. I was sensible at rationalise them (those cause-effects seemed eventually correct), but it was a way to RUN from feeling them. A distraction.
I feel vulnerable in talking about my emotions with friends or slightly shallower acquaintances. I literally feel betrayed by my own behaviour if I overshare, and the unease and regret feeling that comes afterwards is disturbing. However, it doesn’t last much.

Venus in my opinion is more Cancer. I assume this simply observing the way I show love and my attitude towards others. I needed to work on some jealousy/possessive tendencies, but I’m not sure to address them to my Venus in the 8th. I really don’t feel such cerebral vibes in my Venus love display. They could be addressed to my Taurus descendant, for instance (?). My attraction towards others, being a girl, is perfectly described by my cancer mars in the 9th. My last meaningful relationship, years ago, has been with a foreign person.
The fact I’m studying abroad (in another country than the one of my ex, for the curious), speaking a foreign language and studying my third, is addressable to my sun in the 9th – or to my chart ruler Pluto in Sag 2nd house.

IMO the 5 degree theory seemed to me a valid general tool. But if I instead rely on my personal perception, my moon has clearly gemini energy with a slightly passionate and compulsive vibe.

Eventually, seems to me that in general the only way to interpret border position like that, is just what the person perceives more. My moon 100% doesn’t give me the empathy is expected it to give. I feel instead that Venus is a ghost in my chart. I feel like other planetary placements take a role for her. Also the 9th house themes are not so relevant.

WAYBREAD post #10 mentions this, and is true. But I don’t know exactly which ones.
