Ms. Tate was in London, UK at the time of her 1969 solar return. The return was therefore cast for that location, and in the second part of this study, the return will be progressed for that location also.
As in any transition, the expected configurations would be aspects to the 8th and 1st houses, their rulers and planets in the houses, and the Ascendant itself; primarily hard aspects, but some harmonious aspects would also be possible.
In the following chart, the inner wheel represents Ms. Tate’s nativity, the middle wheel the antiscion positions, and the outer wheel the tropical solar return as calculated for London.

Solar Return Midheaven square radical Pluto (00” – exact); Pluto, planet of transition and death, in the 1st house, exactly highlighted by the SR Midheaven. In the writer’s opinion, this aspect is breathtaking in its clarity of meaning and precision.
SR Midheaven inconjunct rad Saturn (29’); Saturn is co-ruler of 8th house. The inconjunct aspect (150 degrees) is considered by some a neutral aspect, good with benefics, hard with malefics.
SR Ascendant inconjunct rad Uranus (05’); Uranus is co-ruler of the 8th house.
SR Moon square rad Ascendant (09’); Moon is ruler of Ascendant, 1st house, representing the physical body.
SR Venus sesquiquadrate rad Pluto (07’); Venus is in the 8th house, and closest planet to the cusp (Placidus)

The two identical aspects, one applying (SR Saturn) and one separating (SR Moon) exert maximum tension or stimulation to the radical Saturn, co-ruler of the 8th house.

Tropical Solar Return aspects to Antiscia
Solar Return Venus opposition antiscion Midheaven, conjunct antiscion IC (06’); along with its other significations, the 4th house is sometimes associated with the end of life. Venus in the radix occupies the 8th house.
SR Sun square the antiscion Moon’s Nodes (20’); the Moon’s North and South Nodes are in the 2nd and 8th houses respectively in the radix.

Arguably the principal murderer, Tex Watson, had his Solar Arc directed Neptune square his natal Mars (59’) and Ascendant (08’); at the time of the murders he was stoned on LSD.
