Like the Case Study on Round Houses, this case study on the Triangular Shaped Structures and Lots covers material that is mostly interesting to serious feng shui students, practitioners, or even those who might be considering designing such an odd-shaped space. Interesting architecture does not always have good feng shui.
To be clear, this case study primarily discusses how triangular shaped floor plans affect people and how to grid out the directional sectors. Practitioners need to know how to handle unusual shapes, even though they are not common. A house with an A-frame style roof is not the same as a triangle shaped floor plan; in fact, the A-Frame might easily have a very stable shaped floor plan, often a square, but the ceiling itself is an issue.
Likewise, equilateral pyramid shaped structures will also have a stable shaped floor plan, but their ceilings come to a point. The following excerpt mentions the symbolism of the pyramid shape (as a three-dimensional triangle), which is a variation of the problems associated with just the triangular shaped floor plan (which might have a flat ceiling).
Excerpt:
“If you do some web searches of the spiritual meaning or significance of triangles, you will locate articles on the Christian, Pagan, and Free Mason interpretation and use of the triangle.
From these articles, there is a distinct premise that the triangular shape is a gate way or portal to other dimensions with demonic implications.
You can go back in time to Egypt and Mesopotamia to understand better the symbolism as well as the practical creation of pyramids, a three-dimensional triangle. Here there are also many mystical connotations, to include the very shape as being a superior conduit for the entombed pharaohs to have passage to heaven. Some believe the point of the pyramid’s top was symbolic of the North Star and being aligned on cardinal directions, the pyramid no doubt had some ancient Feng Shui implications. Feng Shui, as it continued to develop in China in ancient times, was influenced by other cultures from other continents. The Chinese were sharing notes on astronomy and metaphysics with travelers from India, Africa, Europe and what is now Russia.”
Sacred Geometry is a whole separate topic, but there can be an overlay between Feng Shui principles of how Qi moves through space, (which is like saying how one type of Qi moves through another type of Qi), intentional architecture, cosmological mathematical realities and how we are impacted by dwelling in these spaces, whether Feng Shui is specifically mentioned or not.
With pyramids all over the world, and supposedly a pyramid on the face of Mars, this powerhouse energy conductor may very well have positive implications for humanity and large areas. Harnessing the energy from any type of shape or dimension is worth looking into, but for ordinary existence, boring shaped floor plans are more stable and calm.
