As a companion to the Part One case study, Introduction to Nine Star Ki, Part Two picks up where Part One left off.  While these two case studies are titled as “Introduction,” they actually cover a lot of material, including some principles and applications nowhere to be found in popular Nine Star Ki books.

For that, I have my teacher Heluo Hill to thank, for sharing with me secrets that no other Nine Ki authors have written about, presumably because they do not know Nine Star Ki at this level.

The case study starts out with various ways people discover their compatibility or incompatibility with others, based on Year of Birth (star) and their Month of Birth (star). Individually, month and season of birth can also indicate a person’s tendency to have certain health issues or personality traits.

The case study features a concept called the “Guest-Host” principle (which also exists in Feng Shui), guidelines for the optimal timing for travel, which is popular with other Nine Ki authors.  Distinct however is the presentation of something called the “Luo Shu Trend,” which characterizes what kind of year we can experience (personally, locally or globally).

Another concept shared is called the “Reversed Luo Shu Axis,” which usually reveals when alarming and unexpected things happen.  The case study was originally written in 2014, but in updating it May 2025, I used the very public fall-out between Elon Musk and President Trump as a case study example. We could have predicted Musk would have a terrible month and a very intense year as a whole.

One of the original examples in the case study features how Nine Star Ki analysis can be approached to solve a “Missing Person” case. I used the Boston Marathon Bombing as an example. I was learning Nine Ki in 2013 with my teacher at the time, as the tragedy was unfolding and the citizens of Boston were ordered to lock down in their homesduring the manhunt.

I half-joked with my teacher that maybe the younger brother Dzokhar could have escaped the scene on a ski jet, just because the 7 Metal star is noteworthy in his Luo Shu chart (one symbol or image of the 7 star is a boat or ship).  As is turned out, he was found hiding in a boat parked on someone’s property.  Coming up next is an excerpt from the section which gives a run-down of the many attributes associated with just one of the nine stars, just to show how many extrapolations we get from one star.
