How Important is Your Birth Name? ⋆ Ann Perry Numerologist

Have you ever wondered “What’s in a Name?”

Well, Numerology says…quite a lot!

So here’s the deal. You didn’t choose your birth name. But you did choose the vibration of it. Your full birth name includes all of the talents, gifts and passions you chose to bring with you to support your chosen life path number. Wild right?

Most of us think of our name as just a label, but in Numerology it’s so much more than that. The name you were given at birth matched the vibration you chose prior to your incarnation. The name you use today maybe telling a way different story.

Your birth name is a huge part of your Soul’s Blueprint

Your birth name is made up of letters that we assign numeric value to from the Pythagorean alphabet. When all of the letters are added up, it creates an integral part of your birth code. Each letter holds a vibration that reveals your deeper purpose, natural gifts and some of the lessons you’ve chosen to learn. You can think of your birth name as the “factory settings” you came in with and those vibrations stay with you for life, no matter how many times you change your name.

But, what happens when you change your name in any way, shape or form?

When we change our name from the way it appears on our birth certificate, it changes the way people see us. It’s like we just changed our outfit.

The name you go by today acts like an overlay on top of your original birth blueprint. Think of it as the outfit you’ve chosen for this chapter of your life. It influences how people see you and how you express yourself from day-to-day.

  • A supportive name can highlight your natural strengths, almost like a spotlight.
  • A clashing one might feel uncomfortable, pulling you into situations that stretch or challenge you.
  • Even a nickname can shift the vibe. For example, “Elizabeth” has a very different Numerology than “Liz.” Both are valid, but each will be experienced differently.

For Example: My Own Shift: From Drummond to Kleinpaste

Many moons ago I got married and I shifted from my birth name, Ann Drummond, to my married name, Ann Kleinpaste, the energy changed dramatically. Oooh baby! Did it ever! Did I mention I knew nothing about Numerology when I made the decision to change my name?

At times, the 3 and the 4 felt like they were pulling me in opposite directions. One urged me to express myself freely, while the other whispered, “Slow down, be practical, create stability.” Looking back, I can see that this tension wasn’t a mistake. It was exactly what my soul needed to learn—to balance freedom and responsibility, expression and structure.

This is why looking at both names is so powerful. It helps you understand not only where your soul is rooted, but also the chapter you’re currently living.

The bottom line is this …

Your birth name reveals your deeper wiring—who you are underneath it all. Your current name shows how you’re expressing yourself right now. Together, they tell the story of your potential, your growth, and how you’re showing up in the world.

Are you curious what your names are saying about you? In a Numerology reading, we’ll look at both your birth name and the one you use today—often that’s where the biggest aha! moments appear.
