Welcome to May, everyone!
This is the first month in 2025 when all the inner planets will be moving direct, and thus will likely be the first month of the year when you can truly feel like there is an open road ahead of you and that progress is possible once again, so let’s dive right in!
The month actually begins with Pluto turning retrograde in Aquarius, but this isn’t the sort of retrograde phase you need to worry about, since all the outer planets spend about half of each year asleep at the wheel, and this will be no different. Pluto is firmly in Aquarius now, with no more dips back into Capricorn as we had to deal with last year, so we will be facing the shadow side of ourselves (Pluto) especially as it relates to Aquarian themes, namely how we work together as a community, and what is the shadow side of technological progress and how do we deal with it?
On a global scale, it is likely we will see more issues surrounding AI regulation and other sticky issues in the tech sphere, but there will also be major changes around the way communities organize in order to effectively achieve their ambitions and aims. Capricorn is the sign of the “CEO”, so we had to come to terms with a lot of the dark sides of power and abuse of it over nearly the last two decades, but Aquarius is the sign of the people and social progress, so that is where our attention will lie for the next five months until Pluto wakes up again.
Mercury leaves Aries on the 10th, wrapping up a complicated transit that was extra drawn out thanks to the recent retrograde season, but now Mercury is entering methodical Taurus, where it wants to handle one thing at a time, and absolutely refuses to be rushed by anyone or anything. This can be great for thinking like the tortoise, rather than the hare, so if you have any important projects or goals, focus on working one step at a time, rather than racing to the finish line, because it will be easy to burn out if you move too quickly.
The 12th arrives with a potent Scorpio Full Moon, which is going to bring some very intense energy to the table. Issues that have been simmering beneath the surface could finally burst forth, especially as messenger Mercury will be forming its own combustible square to Pluto, making it difficult for us to keep quiet and go with the flow. Look back six months ago to the seeds you planted at the Scorpio New Moon, because they are likely ready for harvesting, and you won’t be able to miss them demanding your attention, either.
The 17th brings with it the chance to change up the program and do things a little bit differently. On this day, the Sun in Taurus will make its annual conjunction to Uranus, which is all about thinking outside the box and doing things a little bit differently. Uranus is indeed all about change, while Taurus is a Fixed sign that likes things to stay as they are, so there may be a bit of tension as you try to figure out how to handle this dichotomy, but with a decent dose of flexibility, anything is possible. Bear in mind, that although Uranus isn’t entirely done with its tour of Taurus (though we are getting there!) this is the last time these two celestial bodies will come together in the sign of the Bull for about ninety years, so it can’t hurt to make the most of this energy while it is on the table, since it is rare that any of us will experience this specific combination again in our lifetime.
The Sun will leave Taurus and enter Gemini a few days later on the 20th. Gemini energy is all about connecting with others, sharing your ideas, and seeing all that your community has to offer. If you’ve felt isolated from others, then this cycle can help you find ways to start circulating again, and since Gemini is the sign of the Twins, it is the perfect time to form powerful partnerships in the name of whatever you like.
The 24th brings a very important change in the heavens when karmic Saturn decamps from Pisces after a three-year tour and moves into Aries for the first time in nearly three decades. Saturn in Aries wants to make us all more self-reliant and capable of handling life on our own, so at times this transit can feel a bit like a boot camp as we all attempt to become our best, most capable selves, but keep in mind that Saturn will retrograde back into Pisces in the autumn for one final visit before settling down in Aries officially next spring, so consider the next few months to be a preview of what is to come.
Mercury will follow the Sun’s example on the 25th and follow it into Gemini for its annual visit. This two-week cycle is an excellent time for partnering up and forming dynamic duos to pursue our goals. We can also enjoy more socializing with close friends and siblings, even meeting new people who may play a huge part in our lives down the line.
The last major event of the mont arrives on the 26th with the Gemini New Moon, which will be positively sparkling as it will form a harmonious trine with Pluto in Aquarius, but also gentle (albeit very loose) sextiles to both Neptune and Saturn in Aries, so there is a lot of opportunity on offer here. Again, as is always the rule with Gemini energy, dynamic duos and other partnerships can really flourish at this time, so if you’ve been hoping to team up with someone for one reason or another, the following two weeks will be prime time to do so. Even if you aren’t looking for a partner, you should still get your message out into the world, whatever it may be, because you can be certain it will be well received.
