If I had known then what I know now, I would have raised my kids so differently! I didn’t know anything about numerology when I was raising my two sons, but somehow, they still turned out to be pretty amazing young men. Thank goodness for that!
Understanding numerology can be a game-changer.
Especially when family dynamics get a little wonky. Numerology can be applied in so many ways, but the most significant contributor is the date of birth. This magical number reveals what your kids signed up for in this life. It identifies the lessons they chose to learn on their life path. Trust me, if I’d known all this back then, I would have avoided a lot of head-butting moments. Knowing your kid’s numerology can help you loosen up and appreciate their unique journey, even when it feels like they’re marching to the beat of their own drum.
Here are just a few ways numerology can help you as a parent:
- Insights into Personality: Numerology can provide insights into a child’s personality, strengths, and weaknesses. This can help parents tailor their parenting approach to better suit their child’s natural tendencies. A firm hand may work for an 8-life path number, but a softer approach will be needed when raising a 2-life path. (This is but one example!)
- Guidance in Education: Understanding a child’s numerological profile might help parents choose educational paths and extracurricular activities that align with their child’s inherent abilities and interests. When we align our kids in activities that we know they are naturally talented in, we set them up for success.
- Improved Communication: Knowing a child’s numerology can potentially improve communication by highlighting preferred communication styles and ways to effectively address conflicts or misunderstandings. For example, when your teen wants to spend countless hours in his room, he may be a 7-life path who requires a lot of time alone.
- Emotional Support: Numerology can offer parents a framework for understanding their child’s emotional needs and how to support them during various developmental stages. For example, a child with a life path number of 4 will require a lot more structure than one with a 5-life path. The 4 needs routine to feel safe.
- Parent-Child Bonding: Sharing numerological insights can be a way for parents and children to bond, especially if both parties find meaning and value in the practice. Sometimes we just need a little background on who we are and what we signed up for. This allows for mutual understanding and respect between the parent and the child.
- Personal Growth: For parents, exploring numerology can be part of a broader interest in personal and spiritual growth, positively influencing their parenting style and family dynamics. Family dynamics can be tough! But with a little bit of understanding of all parties involved, it can make the journey just so much easier.
- Decision-Making: Numerological insights might guide parents in making decisions regarding their child’s environment, such as choosing the right school, hobbies, or peer groups that align with their child’s numerological profile.
I remember when my son Jeff was in grade 7. He came home from school and asked, “Mom, tell me again why I need to learn Algebra.” I answered, “Well, it’s part of the curriculum, so you must learn it.” He looked pretty perplexed when he responded, “But (a + b =c) is NEVER going to help me buy my groceries!” Was he wrong? Nope.
Kids don’t come with owner’s manuals.
Although I did the very best I could to raise both of my kids, I confess that I didn’t always consider their personal needs. I mean, after all, there is no guidebook! I would guide them to what I felt was the “right way” of doing things. Or maybe I guided them the way I was raised—you know, go to school, graduate, go to university, get a good job, and on it goes.
Jeff is a 5-life path number. The 5’s don’t always thrive in traditional school settings because they learn through experience rather than books. You just can’t ask a 5 to sit in a chair endlessly until the bell rings. Had I known this, I would have found ways beyond the normal structure of school to stimulate him better.
It was as if I was trying to fit the round peg into the square hole. Jeff wasn’t a great student, but he was far from stupid. He just had to be allowed to march to the beat of his own band. I’m proud to say that he has his own business and is on his way to becoming a millionaire before he’s 45 years old.
But needless to say, allowing my son to find his way was scary!! What happens if he can’t support himself? How would I live with myself if he didn’t go on to post-secondary education? What will people think if he falls through the cracks?
If I’d understood the basics of his Numerology chart, I would have raised him with a much longer leash. I would have calmed down and accepted that he was just not going to be a stellar student, and that’s okay! I would have appreciated that he was his own person, and I had little to no control over that.
A healthy understanding of Numerology permits us to loosen up.
We can relax when we have a better understanding of what makes our kids tick. We can gain clarity as to why one sibling is so incredibly different from the other. We can appreciate why Mom may not get along with Johnny but gets along with Sue.
We all have a very unique soul’s contract, that with a little bit of effort can unlock the path to a much healthier family dynamic.
