The Tai Sui is the Feng Shui God of the Year, who takes charge over all the worldly affairs for that particular year. That means, the Tai Sui determines the fortunes of us human beings. With the Tai Sui, history is brought back to life, as it is a real person who was honoured for good deeds or particular successes during his lifetime, who is bestowed with the title of Tai Sui. This is connected to the Taoist calendar, which consists of the twelve “earthly branches” (i.e. the 12 zodiac animal signs) that rotate according to the five elements, creating a complete cycle of 60 years. Hence, there are 60 different personalities who act as Tai Sui! Each year, on Chinese New Year, a new Tai Sui takes over this almighty position of overseeing the people’s health, happiness, luck and fortune.
Meet General Wu Sui, The God of the Year 2025, also known as the “Tai Sui” or the “Grand Duke Jupiter”:
General Wu Sui was a scholar and magistrate during the Song Dynasty. He was widely known for his intellect and his ability to solve even the most difficult and intricate cases. His meticulous approach to analysing evidence earned him a strong reputation and led to other magistrates frequently seeking his assistance. This recognition resulted in his appointment as governor of Xiuning County.
General Wu Sui was a man determined to help his people. During a time of severe drought in the region, he devoted three days and nights to praying at the temple. His prayers were answered, and rain fell on his county, while the neighbouring areas remained dry, causing famine and unrest. Despite the chaos of fire and looting in the surrounding regions, General Wu Sui’s county flourished. Introducing strategic tax exemptions and effective relief efforts, he preserved peace and stability, transforming his province into a rare sanctuary of order during a time of widespread hardship.
Having General Wu Sui as the Tai Sui for 2025 suggests that the year may bring challenges due to scarcity of resources, possibly caused by natural disasters or conflict. The hostile No 3 Star in the NW (the sector of the Patriarch) adds to the potential for unrest, including possible displacement of populations. However, it also holds the promise of a compassionate leader emerging to guide people through adversity. In such times, the protection and guidance of the Tai Sui are essential. Harmony amulets will be particularly helpful in fostering peace and stability this year.
WHY IS THE TAI SUI SO IMPORTANT?
The location and direction of the Tai Sui is considered one of the major annual afflictions in Feng Shui. The Tai Sui loves his peace and quiet and does not like to be disturbed. If you do disturb him, even if it is unintentionally, he will punish you by bringing misfortune from the mild to the severe kind.
As a gesture of respect, it is advised not to sit or sleep facing the Tai Sui, as that would offend him. In addition, you should avoid any renovations or construction works in the location of the Tai Sui. This includes no cutting of trees and no digging in your garden. So, if you were planning to plant some trees or build a swimming pool in the location of the Tai Sui, it would be wise to leave it until the following year.
This year, the Tai Sui lives in SE3, the location of the Snake, and every year there are three animal signs that are said to be “clashing” with the Tai Sui. In 2025, it is the Boar (Pig) (direct clash, since the Boar is located opposite the Tai Sui), as well as the Tiger and the Monkey, who are in side clash. All three animal signs and those born in the Year of the Snake (who is sharing its space with the Tai Sui) are recommended to carry a Tai Sui Amulet or a Tai Sui Card to appease the Tai Sui, who will in turn ensure obstacles get dissolved and their year will run smoothly.
Having said that, the Tai Sui also provides some benevolence if his location is visited by a favourable flying star and, provided the space where the Tai Sui lives is not disturbed, his influence can bring wealth and prosperity.
HOW TO GET THE SUPPORT OF THE TAI SUI?
It is important to show respect to the Tai Sui and gain his approval as this brings his support in all your efforts.
These are the general recommendations:
- Do not sit or sleep facing the Tai Sui.
- Do not disturb the Tai Sui by undertaking renovations or construction works in his location. If you evoke the wrath of the Tai Sui, he will make your life difficult for the year. If you absolutely have to carry out renovation works in this area, then avoid starting and ending the works in the location of the Tai Sui.
- Appease the Tai Sui by placing a Tai Sui Plaque with his image in the respective sector.
- As an additional precaution, you can place a Pi Yao facing the direction of the Tai Sui. The Pi Yao is said to be the Tai Sui’s favourite pet and will be able to put him in a peaceful mood.
- Carry a Tai Sui Amulet or Tai Sui Card if your animal sign is in conflict with the Tai Sui (as explained above) or your home faces the direction of the Tai Sui.
- Get help from your zodiac secret friends and allies to give you strength and overcome challenges.
