Hello. So I cast a chart, please see below.
A couple of things then
My interpretation: There is no aspect between significators (of 1st and 7th), the orb is too wide. However, I believe there is translation of light, from Mars.
Translation of light is defined as when a light [faster] Planet separates from a more weighty [slower] one while immediately applying to join to another more heavy [slower] one.
7th Lord Merc is faster than Mars, so translation of light cannot come from Mars..
There is a translation of light going on: Moon translates from Merc to Mars.
So Merc both applies to sextile and its light is translated to Mars. It’s Merc and Mars coming together in this chart.
Mars is separating from a sextile from 7th lord, and is now applying to a sextile to 1st lord.
Mars, the slower planet, does not separate from 7th house lord Mercury. Rather, Mercury applies to Mars.
Mars does apply to Jup, as you say.
I use this online ephemeris to see the movement of the planets. It shows me which are aspecting; how they are aspecting, applying or separating; if one is translating or collecting light..

Gaining facility with an ephemeris is an immense help in understanding what is really going on, especially in horary. Take a look at it for this particular example question, so you really understand which planets are applying and separating and so on. It will really serve you in good stead.
