Two “Money Leaks” Why Fixing Them Comes Before Anything Else

A recap of my recent live workshop on Feng Shui money leaks. What they are, how to find yours, and the $5 remedy you can set up today.

If you’ve spent any time on Pinterest, TikTok, or YouTube looking up Feng Shui for money, you’ve almost certainly seen the same advice over and over: “Put a plant in the southeast corner.” “Your wealth corner is the back-left of your home.” “Place a water fountain in the south.”

This is the kind of generic, one-size-fits-all advice that drives me absolutely bonkers because it’s not how authentic Feng Shui works. At all. 🙂

I trained in an unbroken lineage that traces back to Grandmaster Tan Yang Wu. And from that foundation, I can tell you with complete certainty: most people are skipping the single most important step in real Feng Shui. That step? Finding and fixing your money leaks before you try to activate any wealth corner.

Here’s what I covered in the live, and what I want every reader of this blog to walk away knowing.

The Big Idea: Patch the Bucket Before You Fill It

I use this metaphor all the time because it’s so simple. If you’re trying to fill a bucket with holes in it, it doesn’t matter how much water you pour in. Activating “money corners” (the part everyone gets excited about) is like pouring more water. But if your home has hidden energetic money leaks (and every home has at least two), the water keeps draining right back out.

This is why so many of my clients come to me saying, “Safrina, we’re making the most money we’ve ever made but it doesn’t stay? Bills appear, unexpected expenses pop up, the roof starts leaking, and we’re back to square one.”

The leaks are doing their quiet damage in the background while you work yourself to the bone.

The Three Energies Behind Everything

Before we talk about leaks, I want to set the foundation. In Chinese metaphysics, every outcome in your life is shaped by three types of energy:

  • Heaven energy: your karma, destiny, past lives, astrological blueprint. The hardest to change.
  • Earth energy: your physical environment. This is where Feng Shui lives, and it’s the easiest lever to pull.
  • Mankind energy: your mindset, emotional state, and physical capacity to act.

I always tell my students: Feng Shui alone won’t fix bad money mindset or unresolved karmic patterns. But a properly tuned home makes every other kind of inner work easier. That’s why I start clients here. It’s the fastest, most actionable third.

Why the “Universal Money Corner” Is a Myth

The biggest misconception I see in this industry and I mean everywhere – in books, on social media, in Reddit threads – is the idea that everyone’s wealth area is in the same place. Usually the southeast, or the back-left of the home.

Here’s my favourite analogy: using a universal money corner is like wearing someone else’s prescription glasses. It might happen to work if your prescription matches theirs. But more often it does nothing or worse, it amplifies the wrong energy entirely.

A viewer in my live confirmed it in real time. She’d put a water fountain in the south after reading generic advice, and ran into serious money trouble. As it turned out, the south was actually her money loss area. The “remedy” was making things worse!!

How to Find Your Actual Money Leaks

Grab the free companion workbook before you go any further: bit.ly/moneyleaksls

It walks you through every step below. Determining your period, finding your facing, locating your specific chart out of the 144, and marking your money leak areas. You can follow along as you read.

In Flying Star Feng Shui your home’s energetic chart comes from a simple formula:

Feng Shui Period + Compass Facing = Your Permanent Chart

There are 144 possible charts (9 periods × 16 facing variations), and only one belongs to your home. Until you know which one, you’re just guessing.

Step 1: Determine your home’s Feng Shui period

Each period lasts about 20 years. We’re currently in Period 9 (February 4, 2024 to February 3, 2044). Your home’s period is locked in the moment you move in (provided it was empty at the time). So if your partner bought a house in Period 8 (2004–2024) and you moved in later, the house is still Period 8.

For apartments and condos, the same rule applies based on when you moved into your unit, not when the building was built.

Step 2: Get your compass facing

This is where most people get it wrong. Your home’s “facing direction” is not always the front door. It’s the most yang (active, busy) side of the property. Usually that’s where the address street is, where car traffic flows, or where the most public-facing energy lives.

A few essentials:

  • Use a real compass. A regular hiker’s compass with a flat edge works fine. Please don’t use your phone compass.
  • Take multiple readings (five or seven) and use the most consistent value.
  • The compass divides 360° into 24 “mountains” (three sub-directions for each of the eight main directions), so “I face west” isn’t precise enough. You need to know if you’re West 1, West 2, or West 3.

A cautionary tale that still haunts me

A few years ago, a man in Australia emailed me in a panic. He’d already paid two other consultants, couldn’t afford a third, and had just lost a quarter of a million dollars in three months after following the second consultant’s advice.

I asked him to send me what the consultants had given him, free of charge. The first was full-on “fast food Feng Shui”. I dismissed it immediately. The second was actually using Flying Star, but he’d taken the compass reading at the wrong wall.

The client lived in a row house. The front door faced a pedestrian walkway, and the address street ran along the back. The consultant had taken the reading at the front door, calculated a chart based on that, and told the client to put a water feature in what was supposedly his wealth corner.

It was actually his strongest money loss area. One wrong wall. One fish tank. $250,000 gone.

I emailed him immediately: “Turn that thing off.” He went house-hunting with me after that, found a properly aligned home, and his wife’s career took off.

This is why I’m so insistent that you get the facing right. The stakes are real.

The Two Money Leaks: “Robbery” and “Bomb”

Once you’ve matched your home to its specific chart, two areas mark your money leaks:

  • The Robbery star: the more aggressive of the two. It governs theft, lost clients, undermined promotions, office politics, slander, unexpected bills, even illness that costs you income. I had a finance-company CEO client whose written report from me specifically warned about break-in risk for one particular month. He didn’t install a security system. He got robbed that exact month. (Yes, I asked about the security system. “I don’t have one.” I almost lost it.)
  • The Bomb star: quieter but persistent. General money challenges. Opportunities shrinking. Clients slowly drifting away. Sales dipping. Your career starting to feel shaky for no obvious reason.

A third symbol on the charts (marked with an X) flags the area where your health and relationships take the biggest hit. Not money-related directly, but worth remedying for the same reasons. What’s the point of having money if your health and relationships are falling apart?

The $5 Money Leaks Remedy: The Salt Cure!

Here’s the part I love most, because it’s so simple anyone can do it today:

How to make a salt cure:

  1. Take a clean glass jar. A clean pasta sauce jar is perfect.
  2. Fill it two-thirds with coarse sea salt.
  3. Add six metal coins (or six cheap metal washers from the hardware store. Anything round and metal.)
  4. Fill the rest with water.
  5. Place one in each of your money-leak areas (Robbery and Bomb). You can put one in the X area too, for health and relationships.

Over the weeks and months you’ll see the salt crystallize and creep up the sides of the jar. That’s the cure absorbing negative energy. Either from people, arguments, illness, and from the Feng Shui leak itself.

Critical rules (please don’t skip these):

  • Never touch the salt or water with bare hands. Always wear gloves.
  • When you dispose of it, do not pour the water down a sink or toilet. Carry the whole jar outside and tip it into a storm drain (I do this at night when no one’s watching).
  • Do not reuse the coins. Throw the whole thing away. I had a client who fished the coins out with bare hands to save 30 cents in change. She ended up bedridden with pneumonia for a month. Thirty cents is not worth that.
  • Replace the cure when it’s heavily crystallized. In extreme cases I’ve seen the glass actually crack from the pressure of the negative energy.

Place it higher up if you have pets or curious children. The cure is permanent. You’ll keep it in place for as long as you live in that home, refreshing as needed.

Key Takeaways

If you only remember a handful of things from this post, make it these:

  1. Every home has at least two money leak areas. Fixing them comes before activating any wealth corner.
  2. There is no universal money corner. With 144 possible charts, generic advice has a 1-in-144 chance of being right for your home and a much higher chance of being actively harmful.
  3. Your home’s chart is determined by two things: the Feng Shui period when you moved in, and the compass facing of the most yang side of your property.
  4. The front door isn’t always the facing direction. Get this wrong and everything downstream is wrong.
  5. The salt cure is the simplest, safest remedy. A glass jar, coarse sea salt, six metal coins, and water. Placed in your leak areas and left to do its quiet work.
  6. Feng Shui is one-third of the picture. Easiest third to act on, but lasting change also needs work on your inner world and your karmic patterns.

The deeper message I want you to take away isn’t really about salt jars or compass readings. It’s about respect for nuance. Real Feng Shui isn’t a Pinterest aesthetic. It’s a precise, lineage-based practice with consequences when applied carelessly. The free generic advice that fills the internet is, as I always say, the most expensive part of doing Feng Shui. Because you’re guaranteed to get it wrong.

Plug the leaks first. The rest can follow.

Ready to Go Deeper? Join Me for Prosperity Blueprint 2026

Plugging your money leaks is step one. Step two is activating your money corners and this is where things get exciting.

Here’s something most people don’t know: every home actually has four money corners, not just one. But not all four can be activated every year. The annual energy shifts, and the trick is to know exactly which corners give you faster results without accidentally triggering negativity.

That’s what I teach in my Prosperity Blueprint 2026 live workshop and the timing matters. The wealth energy of 2026 peaks in July, so you still have a window to maximize it. But the money loss energy of the year peaks then too. You want to be on the right side of that curve.

In the workshop, you’ll:

  • Identify exactly where your four money corners are on your unique 144 chart
  • Learn which corners are safe to activate this year and which ones to leave alone
  • Get a step-by-step activation plan you can implement immediately
  • Tap into the July 2026 wealth peak with confidence

Two ways to join:

  • General Registration $19. Live workshop + recording + 30 days portal access + 30 days private Facebook group support, where I personally answer your questions about your layout, facing, and period.
  • VIP Registration $88. Everything in General, plus a free seat to next year’s Prosperity Blueprint 2027 (yes, that’s not a typo), 6 months portal access, and 6 months group support.

The deadline matters too. I deliberately limit portal access to keep you moving. Last cohort I had members tell me the 30-day window was the thing that finally got them to implement instead of just consuming information. Information without action doesn’t change your life. Information with action does.
